Freemasonry is America’s oldest and largest fraternity. It is a large part of the lives of many men, some of whom became Presidents and others who remain carpenters. One of the founding principals of Masonry is that all men are on the level, or equal brothers under the fatherhood of God.
Many Freemason lodges are very active in their local community. Scholarship programs, CHIP (Child Identification Program), and Masonic Pathways (Senior Living Services) just to name a few. Many Masons may also see a need in their local community and find help through their lodge brothers. What it means to be a Mason is only limited by your imagination.
Some people misunderstand our goals, and it is easy to see why. We are not a secret society, but we are a society with secrets. We are not a religion, yet belief in a higher power is required for membership. You will never be pressured into doing something against your beliefs and are not required to contribute more than your yearly membership dues. Many of our members just enjoy the company of like minded men in our meetings and nothing else.
